What Is Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage — and How My Technique Combines East and West

ree

Over the years, I’ve studied lymphatic drainage massage in three different styles — and each one taught me something completely unique. Today, I blend them to offer my own signature technique.

First: My Foundation in Hong Kong

Years ago, I began my massage career in Hong Kong, where I trained in lymphatic drainage using a firmer, more hands-on approach. The technique was focused on reducing water retention, improving circulation, and sometimes incorporated 穴位 (acupressure points) from traditional Chinese medicine.

That experience taught me how to work with the body, not just on it — and it laid the foundation for the deeper, result-focused treatments I give today.

Second: The UK Method – Gentle, Light, and Dry

After moving to the UK, I retrained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) —[MLD = a very gentle, medically developed technique using light, repetitive movements to encourage lymph flow, often used post-surgery or for chronic swelling].

In the UK, MLD is often performed without oil, and feels similar to dry brushing — very soft, slow strokes with almost no pressure.

While this method has its clinical benefits, I felt it lacked the sensory experience many clients expect from massage. So I adapted it:

  • I use gentle MLD rhythms, but with massage oil for a smoother touch

  • Clients enjoy relaxing scents and softer gliding, which still delivers a dry-brushing effect while calming the nervous system

This East-meets-West version of MLD gave my clients the soothing and therapeutic results they needed — especially those unfamiliar with purely medical-style treatments.

Third: Brazilian Lymphatic Massage — The Bold, Sculpting Style London Loves

Recently, I noticed that Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage (BLD) has become one of the most in-demand treatments in London.[BLD = a firm, rhythmic technique focused on reducing bloating, sculpting the body, and promoting visible results after one session]

Clients were asking for it — and I understood why: it’s fast-paced, deeper, and highly effective.

So I trained a third time, this time in BLD, and found it surprisingly close to what I had learned in Hong Kong — but more refined for body sculpting and post-op care.

My Signature Style: East Meets West

Now, my Brazilian Lymphatic Massage combines the best of all three methods:

  • The firm, detoxifying rhythm of Brazilian techniques (BLD)

  • The energy flow and pressure point work from Hong Kong

  • The soft, relaxing glide of UK-style MLD, with oil for comfort and scent therapy

Each session is personalized to your body’s needs — whether you’re struggling with water retention, recovering from surgery, or simply want to feel lighter, slimmer, and more balanced.
