Why I Became a Massage Therapist – My Journey to Healing and Helping

ree

Hi, I’m Maggie — founder of Positive&Pro Massage – South West London, a mobile massage service that comes to your home with care, calm and compassion. People often ask me why I became a massage therapist, and today, I want to share a little piece of my story with you.

It Started After My First Baby

14 years ago, I became a mother for the first time. It should have been the happiest time of my life… but honestly? I felt blue, overwhelmed, and my body didn’t feel like my own anymore. I had no idea back then how common this was — how many women go through that quiet, heavy struggle after giving birth.

No one really told me how much support a mother’s body and mind need after childbirth. I didn’t know what to ask for, and I didn’t know how to take care of myself. Looking back, I just wish someone had been there to gently help me — not just with practical care, but with understanding.

Then Came a Turning Point – Belly Binding in Hong Kong

A few years later, belly binding suddenly became popular in Hong Kong. That sparked something in me. I started to learn more about postnatal recovery, anatomy, and natural healing. I went deep into the world of massage therapy, breathing, and body awareness — and I absolutely loved it.

Eventually, I became a Postnatal Massage Therapist, trained to support mothers during one of the most vulnerable yet beautiful times of their lives. Through massage, conversation, and simple breathing techniques, I found I could give something meaningful — something I personally never received.

Bringing My Work to London

When I moved to London, I didn’t stop. I brought this passion with me. I’ve now expanded my practice to include Holistic Massage, Deep Tissue, and Lymphatic Drainage — but my heart is still rooted in real care.

Massage isn’t just about relaxing muscles. It’s about restoring trust in your own body, helping with stress, and creating space for healing — physically and emotionally. It’s a truly rewarding job, and every time a client says “I feel lighter,” I know I’ve done something that matters.

That’s Why I Named My Business Positive&Pro

Because I want every session to bring something positive, even if life feels heavy. And because I always aim to show up with professional care and skill.

Whether you’re a mum, an overworked Londoner, or someone who just needs a moment to breathe again — I’m here for you. With safe hands, a warm heart, and a listening ear.

Thank you for reading my story.

With care,

Maggie Tso
